This is nigredo—the first and most crucial stage of alchemical transformation.

In alchemy, nigredo (the blackening) is the stage of putrefaction, decomposition, and death. The prima materia—the raw material—must completely break down before it can be transformed into gold. The old form must die so the new can be born. It's dark, it's painful, it's terrifying. But it's absolutely necessary. Without nigredo, there is no transformation. Without the dark night, there is no dawn.

The alchemical journey from nigredo (blackening) through albedo (whitening) and citrinitas (yellowing) to rubedo (reddening) is the map of entrepreneurial transformation. The Alchemical Purpose of Nigredo

Why the breakdown is necessary:

1. Death of the false self:
   • The ego identity built on success must die
   • Your worth cannot depend on external achievement

1. Don't resist the darkness

• This is not a mistake or punishment
• This is the alchemical process

• Don't numb, bypass, or distract
• Grief, rage, despair—feel it all
• Emotions are the fire that burns away impurities
• What you feel, you can heal

3. Seek support

• You don't have to do this alone
• Asking for help is strength, not weakness

4. Trust the process

• This is temporary (even though it doesn't feel like it)
• The darkness has a purpose
• Transformation is happening
• Dawn will come

5. Let it die

• Don't try to resurrect what needs to die
• The old business model, identity, or way of being
• Let it go completely
• Make space for the new
