Planetary Talismans: Creating Charged Symbols of Power

Planetary Talismans: Creating Charged Symbols of Power

BY NICOLE LAU

A talisman is more than a lucky charm—it's a battery of focused magical energy, a physical anchor for spiritual forces, and a tool that works on your behalf even when you're not actively performing ritual.

Planetary talismans are among the most powerful in ceremonial magic. By inscribing the seals, symbols, and names of a planet onto a physical object and consecrating it during the planet's hour, you create a living link to that planetary intelligence.

Carry it, and you carry the planet's power with you.

What Is a Planetary Talisman?

A planetary talisman is a physical object (usually metal, paper, or clay) inscribed with:

  • The planetary symbol (☉ ☽ ☿ ♀ ♂ ♃ ♄)
  • The planetary seal or sigil (from grimoires like the Key of Solomon or Agrippa)
  • The names of the planetary intelligence and spirit
  • Your specific intention

It's then consecrated during the planet's day and hour, charged with ritual, and carried or placed where it can do its work.

The talisman becomes a focal point for the planetary force, continuously radiating that energy into your life.

How to Create a Planetary Talisman

Step 1: Choose Your Planet and Intention

What do you need? Match your goal to the appropriate planet.

Example: You want to attract a romantic partner → Venus talisman

Step 2: Gather Materials

Traditional method: Use the planet's metal (gold for Sun, silver for Moon, copper for Venus, etc.)

Practical method: Use:

  • Heavy cardstock or parchment paper
  • Clay or polymer clay
  • Wood rounds
  • Metal blanks (available from craft stores)

You'll also need:

  • Pen or engraving tool (use the planet's color ink if possible)
  • Planetary incense
  • Planetary candle (the planet's color)
  • Optional: planetary crystal

Step 3: Calculate the Planetary Hour

Use a planetary hours calculator to find the planet's hour on its day. This is when you'll create and consecrate the talisman.

Example: For a Venus talisman, work on Friday during a Venus hour.

Step 4: Design Your Talisman

On one side, inscribe:

  • The planetary symbol (♀)
  • The planetary seal or kamea
  • The names of the intelligence and spirit (in Hebrew or English)

On the other side, inscribe:

  • Your specific intention in clear, present-tense language
  • Example: "I attract loving, harmonious relationships"
  • Your name or initials
  • The date of creation

Step 5: Consecrate the Talisman

During the planetary hour, perform this ritual:

  1. Perform the LBRP to clear the space
  2. Light the planetary candle and incense
  3. Hold the talisman in your hands
  4. Invoke the planetary force:

"I call upon [Planet], [Archangel], [Intelligence], and [Spirit]!
By the power of this [day] and this hour,
I consecrate this talisman to [intention].
Let it be charged with the force of [Planet],
A living link to your power.
As I will it, so mote it be!"

  1. Visualize the planet's colored light pouring into the talisman, filling it with energy
  2. Pass the talisman through the incense smoke and over the candle flame (carefully)
  3. Place it on your altar overnight (or for the full planetary day)
  4. Close with the LBRP

Step 6: Activate and Carry

The next day, hold the talisman and speak your intention aloud three times. Then carry it with you, place it on your altar, or keep it in a relevant location (e.g., Venus talisman in your bedroom, Jupiter talisman in your wallet).

Example: Creating a Jupiter Prosperity Talisman

Goal: Attract financial abundance

Materials:

  • Round piece of cardstock or wood
  • Blue pen or paint
  • Cedar incense
  • Blue candle
  • Amethyst crystal (optional)

Timing: Thursday, during a Jupiter hour

Design:

  • Front: Jupiter symbol (♃), Jupiter kamea (4x4 magic square), names \"Yophiel\" and \"Hismael\"
  • Back: \"Abundance flows to me easily and joyfully\" + your name + date

Consecration:

  1. LBRP
  2. Light blue candle and cedar incense
  3. Hold talisman and say: \"Tzadkiel, Archangel of Jupiter, Yophiel, Intelligence of Jupiter, Hismael, Spirit of Jupiter! I consecrate this talisman to attract prosperity and abundance. Let it be a magnet for wealth and opportunity. So mote it be!\"
  4. Visualize royal blue light filling the talisman
  5. Pass through smoke and over flame
  6. Leave on altar overnight
  7. LBRP to close

Use: Carry in your wallet or place on your desk.

Caring for Your Talisman

Recharge regularly: Once a month, on the planet's day, hold the talisman and re-state your intention. Pass it through incense smoke.

Keep it private: Don't show your talisman to others or discuss it casually. Its power is personal.

Cleanse if needed: If the talisman feels heavy or drained, cleanse it with salt, smoke, or moonlight, then re-consecrate.

Dispose respectfully: If you no longer need the talisman, thank it, then bury it, burn it (if paper), or return it to nature.

Advanced: Kameas (Magic Squares)

Each planet has a kamea—a magic square where numbers are arranged so each row, column, and diagonal adds to the same sum. These are used in traditional talismanic magic to encode the planet's mathematical signature.

Example: Jupiter Kamea (4x4)

4 14 15 19 7 6 125 11 10 816 2 3 13

Each row, column, and diagonal adds to 34. You can inscribe this on your talisman for added power.

Final Thoughts

Planetary talismans are one of the most practical and powerful tools in ceremonial magic. They work continuously, even when you're not actively doing ritual, and they can be tailored to any goal.

Create one for each planet, and you'll have a complete set of magical allies working on your behalf.

The planets are waiting to lend you their power. All you have to do is ask—and inscribe.
