Mabon Spells: Release & Preparation
BY NICOLE LAU
The Power of Mabon Spellwork
Mabon creates optimal conditions for two specific types of magic: release spells that let go of what no longer serves, and preparation spells that ready us for winter's approach. The sabbat's position at the autumn equinox—when day and night are equal, when the second harvest is complete, and when darkness begins to increase—makes it the most powerful time of year for magic focused on release, balance, and preparation. Spells cast at Mabon carry the blessing of the equinox, the momentum of transition, and the balanced energy of standing at the threshold.
Mabon spellwork differs from other sabbats because it works with the energy of balance and transition. You're not just attracting or manifesting—you're tapping into the same force that makes leaves fall, brings harvest to completion, and ensures that nature prepares for rest. This balanced, transitional energy makes Mabon spells particularly effective for release, letting go, finding equilibrium, and preparing for the darker months.
This collection focuses on Mabon's two primary magical themes: release and preparation. These spells range from simple candle magic suitable for beginners to more complex rituals for experienced practitioners. All can be adapted to your personal practice and available materials.

Final Thoughts: Magic of Release and Preparation
Mabon spells carry exceptional power because they align with the equinox's balance and autumn's transition. When you cast release spells at Mabon, you're working with the same force that makes leaves fall. When you work preparation magic at the autumn equinox, you're tapping into the energy of nature readying for winter.
These spells are tools, not formulas. Adapt them to your practice, your needs, and your available materials. The most powerful ingredient in any spell is your focused intention and genuine willingness to release and prepare. Trust your intuition, honor the balance, and work with respect for the forces you're engaging.
The equinox is here. The balance is perfect. Your magic is amplified. Cast wisely and well. May the autumn equinox bless your spellwork. 🍎🍂✨
