Cancer Yoga Sequence: Water, Emotion, and Flow
BY NICOLE LAU
If Gemini is the air that moves quickly, Cancer is the water that flows deeply. Where Gemini lives in the mind, Cancer lives in the heart. Born under the element of water and ruled by the Moon, the planet of emotions and intuition, Cancer energy is nurturing, sensitive, protective, and deeply feeling.
Cancer is the sign of the crabβcarrying its home on its back, protected by a hard shell but soft and vulnerable underneath. This is not the energy of detachment or logic. This is the energy of emotional depth, intuitive knowing, and the fierce protectiveness of the mother. Cancer teaches us that vulnerability is not weaknessβit's the gateway to genuine connection and emotional wisdom.
A Cancer yoga sequence must honor this energy: gentle, nurturing, emotionally opening, and fluid like water. This is not about pushing or achieving. This is about feeling, releasing, and allowing emotions to flow through you like waves. This is yoga as emotional healing, as self-care, as a return to the safety of the womb.
Whether you're a Cancer sun, moon, or rising, or simply want to cultivate Cancer qualities in your life, this sequence will open your heart, help you process emotions, and reconnect you with your intuitive, nurturing nature.
