The Abundance Block Tarot Spread: What Is Stopping My Prosperity?
Share
An abundance block is not a circumstance — it is a belief, a pattern, or an unconscious agreement that prevents the natural flow of prosperity into a life that is, by all external measures, capable of receiving more. The characteristic signature of an abundance block is the experience of working very hard, wanting very much, and yet finding that prosperity arrives in fits and starts, or plateaus below what genuine effort would seem to warrant, or disappears as quickly as it arrives. The abundance block spread does not look at the external circumstances of prosperity — the market, the competition, the economy. It looks at the internal architecture of the practitioner's relationship with prosperity and identifies the specific internal structure that is creating the ceiling.
There are several primary categories of abundance block, and understanding which category is operative in a specific situation determines what the resolution requires. Worthiness blocks ("I don't deserve this") require identity work. Safety blocks ("prosperity is dangerous") require nervous system regulation and root chakra work. Visibility blocks ("prosperity requires being seen, and being seen is terrifying") require throat chakra and self-expression work. Receiving blocks ("I can generate but not receive") require sacral chakra and self-care work. This spread identifies which type of block is primary.
The Abundance Block Tarot Spread
A five-card diagnostic spread for identifying the specific internal structures blocking prosperity.
Card 1 — The Primary Block: What is the central, most fundamental internal structure that is currently creating the ceiling on prosperity? This card names the block at its root rather than its surface symptom.
Card 2 — Where It Came From: What experience, belief system, family pattern, or cultural conditioning created this block? Understanding the origin does not instantly dissolve the block, but it removes the shame of having it — the block is almost never original to this person, but inherited or acquired from a specific source.
Card 3 — How It Shows Up in My Work and Money: What is the specific, recognizable behavioral or circumstantial pattern through which this block expresses itself in the current work or financial life? What does the block look like in action?
Card 4 — What It Is Protecting Me From: Blocks do not exist without a function. What fear, risk, or unwanted experience is this abundance block protecting the practitioner from? What does the unconscious believe will happen if the block is removed and prosperity truly arrives?
Card 5 — The First Step to Moving Through It: Not the complete dissolution of the block — that is a longer process. The first concrete, actionable step toward loosening its grip and allowing more prosperity to flow.
The Three-Step Shift Practice
Step 1: Before the reading, identify one specific instance in the recent past when prosperity that seemed available did not arrive, or arrived and then disappeared. Describe it briefly and honestly. This is the specific evidence of the block that the spread will address.
Step 2: Draw five cards. Read Card 4 (what the block protects from) with particular care and genuine compassion: the part of you that created the ceiling was protecting something real. The dissolution of the block begins not with willpower but with the acknowledgment of the fear it has been serving.
Step 3: Take the first step of Card 5 this week. Abundance blocks are not dissolved by understanding them; they are dissolved by the accumulation of evidence that the feared consequence does not, in fact, arrive when prosperity is allowed. The only way to create that evidence is to allow more in, one step at a time.
