Choosing Between Jupiter's Protection Pentacles: A Practical Guide

The Key of Solomon contains multiple Jupiter pentacles with protective functions. The Third defends against enemies and evil spirits. The Sixth protects against all earthly dangers. The First establishes authority over Jupiter's spirits. Each addresses a different dimension of protection — and choosing the right one for your specific situation requires understanding what each offers and what your situation actually needs.

This practical guide helps you navigate Jupiter's protective pentacles and choose the right seal for your working.

The Jupiter Protection Pentacles: A Quick Reference

First Pentacle of Jupiter: Invokes Jupiter's authority and compels the spirits of Jupiter to appear and obey. Primarily used as a preparatory seal before other Jupiter workings, but also establishes the practitioner's authority within the Jovian current — which has protective implications.

Third Pentacle of Jupiter: Defends and protects against any enemy and against any evil spirits which may lust after or obsess the practitioner. Specifically targeted at enemies and hostile spiritual forces.

Sixth Pentacle of Jupiter: Protects against all earthly dangers. Comprehensive, broad-spectrum protection under divine authority. The most complete protective seal in the Jupiter series.

The Decision Framework

Use this framework to choose the right Jupiter protection pentacle for your situation:

Step 1: Identify the nature of your threat.

• Is the threat specific and identifiable (a particular enemy, a specific hostile force)? → Consider the Third Pentacle
• Is the threat broad, multiple, or not clearly identifiable? → The Sixth Pentacle is most appropriate
• Are you facing both specific enemies and broader material dangers? → Consider both the Third and Sixth Pentacles

Step 2: Identify the domain of your threat.

• Is the primary threat from human enemies or hostile spiritual forces? → Third Pentacle is specifically designed for this
• Is the primary threat legal, financial, or physical? → Sixth Pentacle's comprehensive coverage is most appropriate
• Is the threat spiritual attack combined with material danger? → Sixth Pentacle covers both

Step 3: Identify what you need from protection.

• Do you need targeted defense against specific hostile forces? → Third Pentacle
• Do you need comprehensive coverage as a continuous baseline? → Sixth Pentacle
• Do you need both? → Work with both simultaneously

The Most Common Situations

"I'm facing a difficult legal situation."
The Sixth Pentacle is the primary choice. Jupiter governs divine law, and the Sixth Pentacle's comprehensive protection is specifically relevant to legal danger. Its border verse — "the kingdom is the Lord's, and he is the governor among the nations" — invokes divine authority over all earthly legal systems.

"I have a specific enemy who is working against me."
The Third Pentacle is the targeted choice. It is specifically designed to defend against enemies and hostile spiritual forces. The Sixth Pentacle can be added for comprehensive coverage alongside the Third's targeted defense.

"I'm going through a dangerous period and don't know exactly what I'm facing."
The Sixth Pentacle is the right choice. Its comprehensive coverage of all earthly dangers is most appropriate when the threat is diffuse or not clearly identifiable. You don't need to know exactly what you're facing for the Sixth Pentacle to protect you.

"I want ongoing protection as a foundation for my practice."
The Sixth Pentacle is the natural choice for a continuous protective baseline. Wear it consistently, charge it on Thursdays, and let it provide comprehensive coverage as the foundation of your protective practice.

Starting with the Sixth

For most practitioners in most situations, the Sixth Pentacle is the right starting point. Its comprehensive coverage of all earthly dangers makes it the most broadly applicable protective seal in the Jupiter series. Once you have the Sixth Pentacle as your foundation, you can add more specific protective tools — the Third Pentacle for enemy defense, Saturn pentacles for binding — as your specific situation requires.
