Emotional Body: Feeling, Desire & Astral Plane
BY NICOLE LAU
Your emotional body is where you feel—joy, sadness, anger, love, fear, desire. It's a fluid, ever-changing rainbow of energy that responds to every experience, every thought, every interaction.
This is also your astral body, your vehicle for traveling the astral plane in dreams and out-of-body experiences. It's the bridge between your physical existence and the realm of feelings, desires, and dreams.
Understanding your emotional body is key to emotional mastery, healing, and conscious astral travel.
What Is the Emotional Body?
Location: 1 to 3 inches from the physical body
Appearance: Rainbow-colored clouds, fluid and constantly changing
Texture: Flowing, liquid, responsive
Function: Feeling, desire, emotional processing, astral travel
Plane: Astral plane
The Feeling Body
Every emotion you experience shows up as color and movement in your emotional body. Joy creates bright yellows and golds. Love creates pinks and greens. Anger creates reds and oranges. Fear creates grays and browns.
Functions of the Emotional Body
1. Emotional Experience
This is where you FEEL. Not think about feelings (that's mental body), but actually experience the sensation of emotion in your energy field.
2. Desire and Attraction
Your desires, wants, cravings, and attractions live here. The emotional body draws you toward what you want and repels you from what you fear.
3. Emotional Processing
Emotions need to move through and be released. The emotional body is designed to process feelings—when healthy, emotions flow through naturally.
4. Astral Travel
During sleep, dreams, or out-of-body experiences, your emotional body can separate from the physical and travel the astral plane.
5. Manifestation Power
Emotions are magnetic. What you feel strongly, you attract. The emotional body is a powerful manifestation tool.
Emotional Body Colors
Red: Passion, anger, vitality, life force
Orange: Creativity, sexuality, enthusiasm, joy
Yellow: Happiness, mental clarity, optimism, confidence
Green: Love, healing, growth, balance
Blue: Calm, peace, communication, truth
Indigo: Intuition, deep feeling, spiritual emotion
Violet: Spiritual love, devotion, transcendence

Water is the element of emotion. Baths, swimming, crying, or sitting by water helps emotional body flow and release.
Creative Expression
Art, music, dance, writing—creative expression moves emotion through and out. Don't judge it, just let it flow.
Heart-Centered Practices
Heart chakra meditation, loving-kindness practice, gratitude, and compassion work heal the emotional body.
Emotional Body Clearing
Daily Practice
- Check in with your emotions: "What am I feeling right now?"
- Name the emotion without judgment
- Feel it fully in your body
- Breathe into it
- Let it move through and release
- Don't hold on or push away—just allow
Emotional Shower Visualization
- Stand or sit comfortably
- Visualize a waterfall of light above you
- See it washing through your emotional body
- Dark, stuck emotions wash away
- Fresh, clear emotional energy flows in
- Your emotional body becomes bright and fluid
Color Breathing
Breathe in the color you need (pink for love, blue for calm, yellow for joy). Breathe out the color you want to release (gray fear, brown stagnation).
The Emotional Body and Relationships
Emotional Cords
We form energetic cords through our emotional bodies to people we're in relationship with. Healthy cords exchange energy mutually. Unhealthy cords drain energy.
Empaths and the Emotional Body
Empaths have very open emotional bodies—they feel others' emotions as their own. This is a gift but requires strong boundaries and regular clearing.
Emotional Contagion
Emotions are contagious through the emotional body. Being around angry people makes you angry. Being around joyful people lifts you up. Choose your emotional environment wisely.
The Astral Plane
What Is the Astral Plane?
The astral plane is the dimension of emotion, desire, and dreams. It's where you go when you dream, where thoughts and feelings take form, where the emotional body naturally exists.
Astral Travel
Your emotional body can separate from the physical and travel the astral plane during:
- Sleep and dreams
- Meditation or trance
- Out-of-body experiences
- Near-death experiences
Lucid Dreaming
Becoming conscious in the astral plane while your physical body sleeps. You're navigating the astral in your emotional body.
Working with Your Emotional Body
Emotional Awareness Practice
Throughout the day, pause and ask: "What am I feeling right now?" Name it. Feel it. Don't judge it. This builds emotional body consciousness.
Feeling Meditation
- Sit comfortably and close your eyes
- Scan your emotional body (1-3 inches out from physical)
- Notice what emotions are present
- Where do you feel them? (chest, belly, throat?)
- What colors do you sense?
- Breathe into the emotions
- Let them move and shift
Emotional Body Strengthening
Feel fully: Don't numb or suppress—feel everything
Express authentically: Share your true feelings (appropriately)
Process regularly: Don't let emotions accumulate
Create: Art, music, dance moves emotion
Connect: Healthy relationships strengthen emotional body
Final Thoughts
Your emotional body is not a problem to be solved—it's a gift to be honored. Emotions are information, energy in motion, the color and texture of your human experience.
When you learn to work with your emotional body—to feel fully, process cleanly, and release completely—you become emotionally free. And emotional freedom is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself.
Feel everything. Suppress nothing. Release what doesn't serve. This is the path of emotional mastery.
