Full Moon Love Bath: A Complete Ritual for Attraction and Release
Share
The full moon is the peak of the lunar cycle — the moment of maximum light, maximum energy, and maximum visibility. What has been growing since the new moon reaches its fullness. What has been hidden is illuminated. What has been calling for acknowledgment can no longer be ignored.
In love practice, the full moon is a time of both celebration and release: celebrating what has come to fullness in your love life, and releasing what has reached its completion and is ready to go. The Full Moon Love Bath works with both of these energies simultaneously.
Why Water for Full Moon Love Work
Water and the moon are ancient companions. The moon governs the tides. Water, in virtually every spiritual tradition, is the element most associated with emotion, intuition, the subconscious, and the receptive feminine principle. To immerse yourself in water during the full moon is to align your most fluid, feeling, receptive self with the peak of lunar energy.
A ritual bath is not the same as an ordinary bath. In an ordinary bath, the purpose is physical cleansing. In a ritual bath, the physical cleansing is the least of what is happening. The water is intentionally charged — with specific ingredients chosen for their correspondences, with your intention spoken into it, with the full presence of your awareness. You are not just getting clean. You are working with water as a medium for transformation.
Full Moon Love Bath Ingredients
The ingredients you add to a love ritual bath each carry their own correspondences and amplify the intention of the bath:
Rose petals or dried roses: Venus's flower. The most direct botanical correspondence for love, beauty, and the open heart. Fresh petals are beautiful; dried petals work equally well energetically.
Rose water: Concentrated rose energy in water form. A splash of rose water in the bath (or spritzed on the body after) adds a powerful Venus charge.
Himalayan pink salt or sea salt: Salt is one of the most ancient purifying and protective substances. In a love bath, it clears the energetic residue of what you are releasing, making space for what you are calling in.
Honey: A spoonful of honey in the bath water draws sweetness in. Use with the intention of calling sweetness toward you in love.
Lavender: Peace, harmony, and the calming of anxiety around love. Useful when your love work involves releasing fear or healing nervous tension.
Cinnamon: Warmth, acceleration, and passionate connection. Use carefully — cinnamon is warming and stimulating.
The Full Moon Love Bath Ritual
Best timing: The night of the full moon, or the night before or after. Full moon energy is potent for two to three days around the peak.
The practice:
- Draw the bath and add your chosen ingredients with intention, speaking each one's purpose as you add it.
- Before stepping in, stand at the edge of the bath and speak your intention aloud: what you are releasing, and what you are calling in.
- Step in and immerse yourself fully if possible. If not, lie back and let the water cover as much of your body as it can.
- Close your eyes. Breathe deeply. Feel the water holding you.
- Let yourself feel whatever is present: gratitude, longing, release, joy. Let the water receive it all.
- When you feel complete, before you drain the bath, set one specific intention for the coming lunar cycle in the domain of love.
- Drain the bath and watch the water carry away what you are releasing. Step out clean, renewed, and open.
