Full Moon Receiving Ritual: How to Open to What You've Called In
Share
The full moon is the culmination of the lunar cycle — the moment of maximum fullness, maximum light, and maximum energetic charge. What was planted at the new moon has been growing through the waxing cycle; at the full moon, it reaches its peak expression. The Full Moon Receiving ritual is the monthly ceremony of opening — of consciously expanding the capacity to receive what has been called in, of expressing gratitude for what has already arrived, and of releasing with trust what has not yet manifested. It is the completion of the new moon's planting, and the beginning of the waning cycle's release and integration.
The Full Moon as a Time of Receiving
The full moon's energy is expansive, illuminating, and amplifying — it brings things to light, brings things to completion, and brings things to fullness. In manifestation practice, the full moon is the time to receive: to open to what has been called in, to notice what has arrived (often in unexpected forms), and to acknowledge and celebrate the evidence of the manifestation process in motion. Many practitioners focus exclusively on what has not yet arrived at the full moon, missing the evidence of what has already arrived — the synchronicities, the unexpected opportunities, the shifts in perspective and circumstance that are the early signs of the manifestation taking form.
The Full Moon Receiving Ceremony
Materials needed: A white or silver candle, a journal, a bowl of water (to reflect the moonlight if possible), any crystals aligned with receiving (moonstone, selenite, clear quartz). Step 1: If possible, perform the ceremony outdoors or near a window where the moonlight is visible. Light the candle and place the bowl of water where it can catch the moonlight. Step 2: Review the intentions set at the new moon two weeks prior. For each intention, write what has arrived — even partially, even in unexpected form — and express genuine gratitude for it. Step 3: For intentions that have not yet manifested, write a statement of trust: "This is in motion. I trust the timing. I remain open to receiving it in whatever form it arrives." Step 4: Perform the receiving practice: sit quietly, hands open and facing upward, and consciously expand your sense of openness and receptivity. Feel yourself as genuinely open to receive. Step 5: Close with a release: "I release all attachment to how and when. I trust. I receive. I am grateful."
