Gemini New Moon Ritual: The Voice — Saying What Needs to Be Said
Share
There is something you have not said yet.
Maybe it is a conversation you have been avoiding. Maybe it is a creative project that has been living in your head, fully formed, waiting to be spoken into the world. Maybe it is an honest answer to a question someone has been asking you for months. Maybe it is simply the expression of who you are that keeps getting edited down to something more manageable, more palatable, more safe.
The Gemini new moon is the month to say it.
The Energy of Gemini
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac — the communicator, the connector, the sign most associated with the power of language, thought, and the exchange of ideas. Its element is air. Its modality is mutable, meaning it adapts, shifts, and moves fluidly between different perspectives and modes of expression. Its ruling planet is Mercury, the planet of communication, thought, writing, and the transmission of ideas.
Gemini energy is quick, curious, multifaceted, and endlessly interested in the world of ideas and communication. Where Taurus builds slowly and steadily, Gemini moves fast, makes connections, asks questions, and generates language for what has been wordless.
The gifts of Gemini are: the ability to articulate complex or subtle experiences, the capacity to hold multiple perspectives simultaneously, intellectual curiosity and flexibility, wit, and the rare skill of making ideas accessible and interesting to others. Gemini is the sign of the writer, the teacher, the conversationalist, the journalist, the storyteller.
The shadow of Gemini is the tendency toward superficiality — staying at the surface of many things rather than going deep into any one thing, and the use of language to obscure rather than reveal (the silver tongue that says what is clever rather than what is true). Working consciously with Gemini energy means using its gifts for genuine expression rather than performance.
When the Gemini New Moon Occurs
The Gemini new moon falls in late May or June, in the late spring season. This is a time of expansion, of the world in full social bloom, of long evenings and the natural human desire to connect, communicate, and share. The Gemini new moon amplifies this seasonal energy with lunar intention: what do you want to communicate, create, or connect in this season?
What the Gemini New Moon Asks
The Gemini new moon asks: What needs to be spoken?
This is different from what needs to be thought. Gemini is not interested in keeping things in the mind, where they can be turned over indefinitely without resolution. It is interested in the moment when thought becomes language, when the inner world meets the outer world through the act of speaking, writing, or creating.
The Gemini moon also asks about authenticity in communication: are you saying what you actually think and feel, or a managed version of it? Are you sharing who you actually are, or a curated presentation of who you think you should be? The invitation of the Voice ritual is not to perform authenticity but to practice it — to find, even in small ways, where your actual voice differs from the voice you have been using, and to close that gap.
The Voice Ritual
The Gemini new moon ritual — The Voice — is a writing and speaking practice that works with the power of authentic expression.
What you need:
- A yellow or light blue candle (air colors, Mercury colors)
- Paper and pen — specifically for writing by hand, not typing
- Optional: blue lace agate or aquamarine, both associated with communication and the throat chakra
The practice:
- Light the candle. Take a few breaths to arrive.
- Write at the top of the page: "What I have not said yet." Then write for ten uninterrupted minutes without lifting the pen. Do not edit. Do not reread as you go. Just write what has not been said.
- When the ten minutes are done, read back what you wrote. Underline one sentence that feels most true and most unsaid.
- Speak that sentence aloud, three times, with full presence. Not performatively. Actually say it, to the air, to the candle, to whatever witness feels right.
- Set one intention for authentic expression in the coming lunar cycle: what will you say, write, create, or share?
- Close the ritual.

- Where does my public voice differ from my private voice? What would it mean to close that gap?
