The Laughter Meditation: Joy as Medicine

Laughter heals. Not just metaphoricallyβliterally. This is Laughter Meditationβthe practice of laughing as meditation, joy as medicine, mirth as spiritual practice. You're not waiting for something funny; you're choosing to laugh, generating joy from within, laughing for no reason. Laughter yoga, giggle meditation, joy practiceβall paths to healing through humor. Your laugh is sacred. Joy is your birthright. Laugh your way to awakening. Medicine of mirth. Healing through humor. You are joy incarnate.
The Practice (15-20 Minutes)
Preparation (2 min): Stand or sit comfortably, loosen body, shake out tension, 3 deep breaths, intention: "I laugh as meditation. Joy is my medicine. Laughter heals me."
Fake It Till You Make It (3 min): Start laughing even if you don't feel like it, "Ha ha ha, ho ho ho," forced laughter, feels fake at first, that's okay, body doesn't know difference between real and fake laughter, same benefits.
Body Laughter (4 min): Let laughter move through body, belly laugh, chest laugh, full body shaking with laughter, physical release, somatic joy.
Contagious Laughter (3 min): If in group, laugh together, laughter is contagious, one person's laugh triggers others, collective joy, if alone imagine laughing with others, social laughter.
Genuine Laughter (3 min): By now fake laughter often becomes real, genuine joy arising, authentic mirth, this is the shift, medicine activating.
Closing (2 min): Let laughter subside naturally, notice how you feel, lighter? Happier? More alive? Gratitude for laughter, for joy, for medicine of mirth.

"I feel silly." Good! Silly is healing. Let yourself be ridiculous. Seriousness is overrated.

"I can't fake laugh." Yes you can. Just make the sound. "Ha ha ha." That's it. Body responds.
