Herbal Practices for Ostara
Ostara Ritual Bath
Combine: rose petals (love and the Goddess), lavender (purification and peace), jasmine flowers (prosperity and moon energy), violet leaves (luck and wishes), mint (vitality and fresh beginnings). Brew herbs as strong tea, strain, add to warm bath. Soak for 20 minutes while visualizing spring's energy filling you. Set intentions for the season. Emerge renewed and ready for growth.
Ostara Incense Blend
Combine: 2 parts rose petals, 1 part lavender, 1 part jasmine flowers, 1/2 part lemon peel, few drops rose or jasmine essential oil. Grind together with mortar and pestle. Burn on charcoal disc during rituals. The scent invites spring's energy and the Maiden Goddess's presence.
Spring Equinox Tea
Combine: 1 part chamomile (peace and sun), 1 part lemon balm (joy and love), 1/2 part mint (vitality), 1/2 part rose petals (love and Goddess), pinch of lavender (peace). Brew 5-7 minutes, sweeten with honey. Drink during ritual or as daily spring practice. As you drink, absorb spring's energy.
Herb and Seed Blessing
Gather seeds you plan to plant this spring. Surround with fresh or dried Ostara herbs (rosemary for protection, basil for prosperity, mint for abundance, lavender for peace). Light a green candle. Hold hands over seeds and herbs. Say: "Herbs of spring, bless these seeds. May they grow strong and true, bringing abundance and magic to all they touch. Blessed Ostara." Leave overnight on altar, then plant seeds the next day.
Ostara Herb Bundle
Create a spring herb bundle (similar to a smudge stick): gather fresh rosemary, lavender, rose stems, and mint. Tie together with green or pink ribbon. Hang to dry for 2-3 weeks. Use to cleanse your space at Ostara and throughout spring. As you cleanse, say: "Spring herbs, clear this space. Welcome balance, growth, and new beginnings."
