How to Use a Pendulum for Chakra Assessment (With a Full Chart)
Share
The chakra system is a map of the body's energy centers — seven primary points along the central axis of the body, each associated with specific functions, emotions, and areas of life. When a chakra is balanced, the life area it governs tends to flow with relative ease. When one is blocked or depleted, the corresponding life area tends to produce friction, difficulty, or persistent challenge in ways that do not always have obvious external causes.
The difficulty with chakra assessment is that the blocks are often not obvious to the conscious mind. You may be experiencing persistent difficulty in relationships without knowing that the heart chakra is where the depletion is. You may be struggling with voice, expression, or being heard without consciously identifying a throat chakra issue. The pendulum and chakra chart together provide a structured way to access the body's own signal about where the energetic attention is needed — without requiring you to already know the answer.
The Seven Chakras and What They Govern
Root chakra (Muladhara) — safety, stability, physical body, survival, belonging, financial foundation. Signs of imbalance: chronic anxiety without clear cause, financial instability, disconnection from the body, difficulty feeling at home anywhere.
Sacral chakra (Svadhisthana) — creativity, pleasure, desire, sexuality, emotional fluidity, abundance. Signs of imbalance: creative blocks, emotional numbness or volatility, difficulty receiving pleasure, reproductive concerns.
Solar plexus chakra (Manipura) — personal power, will, self-esteem, action, direction. Signs of imbalance: chronic indecision, difficulty taking action, people-pleasing, diminished sense of personal authority.
Heart chakra (Anahata) — love, compassion, connection, grief, forgiveness, self-love. Signs of imbalance: difficulty receiving love, chronic loneliness despite connection, unprocessed grief, closed-heartedness.
Throat chakra (Vishuddha) — voice, expression, truth, communication, authenticity. Signs of imbalance: difficulty speaking truth, chronic throat issues, feeling unheard, saying yes when you mean no.
Third eye chakra (Ajna) — intuition, perception, vision, clarity, inner knowing. Signs of imbalance: brain fog, difficulty trusting intuition, disconnection from inner guidance, chronic confusion.
Crown chakra (Sahasrara) — spiritual connection, purpose, meaning, transcendence, unity. Signs of imbalance: existential emptiness, disconnection from meaning, spiritual bypass or spiritual rigidity.
How to Use the Chakra Chart with a Pendulum
The chakra chart lists all seven chakras in order. Hold your calibrated pendulum above the center of the chart and ask: “Which chakra most needs my attention and care at this time?” Allow the pendulum to move. It will typically begin to drift toward a specific area of the chart, or to move in a direction that points to a specific chakra. This is the answer your body's integrated intelligence is providing.
After identifying the chakra, you can deepen the inquiry with specific follow-up questions:
- “Is this chakra depleted or blocked?” (yes/no)
- “Is the primary cause of this imbalance from the current period, or from earlier in my life?”
- “Is there a specific practice that would most support this chakra right now?” (use a second chart with practice options: movement, meditation, sound, color, crystal, journaling)
Combining the Chakra Chart with the Crystal Selection Chart
One of the most useful pendulum sequences is: chakra chart first (to identify which center needs attention), then crystal selection chart (to find the most aligned crystal to work with for that chakra). Each chakra has associated crystals, but the crystal selection chart allows you to identify which specific stone is most resonant for you and your specific situation, rather than relying on generic correspondence lists.
This two-chart sequence takes approximately five minutes and provides a complete assessment and response: where the energetic attention is needed, and what tool is most aligned to support it.
