Quarter 3 Tarot Practice: Harvesting Season, Abundance, Integration, and Completion
Share
Quarter 3 of the year-long tarot practice — Weeks 27 through 39 — corresponds to the energy of autumn and the archetype of harvesting. This is the season of reaping what has been planted and grown: the genuine acknowledgment of what the year has produced, the integration of what has been learned, the completion of what is ready to be completed, and the beginning of the conscious process of releasing what the season has ripened toward its natural end. Quarter 3 is the most satisfying quarter of the year-long practice when the first two quarters have been genuinely engaged with, and the most uncomfortable when they have not.
The harvest is honest: it shows you exactly what grew from what was planted, which is not always what was intended. Some of the intentions of Quarter 1 have grown in unexpected directions; some have grown into things genuinely better than what was planned; some have not grown at all, and the harvest requires the honest acknowledgment of that too. The harvesting season is not the season of optimism or aspiration; it is the season of honest assessment and genuine gratitude for what actually is.
Week 27: Abundance
The abundance spread opens the third quarter with the most fundamental question of the harvest: what has genuinely grown and is genuinely available to be received? The abundance spread is not a positive-thinking exercise; it is an honest inventory of what has been produced by the year's first half. This honest inventory often reveals genuine abundance in unexpected dimensions — growth in areas that were not the primary focus of the year's intentions, development that happened below the surface of the visible projects, and capacities that expanded through the challenge of the second quarter in ways that were not apparent while the challenge was most active.
Week 29: Integration
The integration spread addresses what the harvest has produced in the domain of understanding and inner change: not the external results, but the shifts in perspective, the expanded capacities, and the new understanding of the self and the life that the year's first three quarters have produced. Integration is the process of making the learning genuinely one's own — not just understanding it conceptually, but having it become part of the operating system that the rest of the life runs on.
Week 31: Completion
The completion spread addresses what in the life is genuinely ready to be finished, closed, or brought to its natural end. Not everything that was begun in Quarter 1 will be completed in Quarter 3; the year-long practice is not a project management system, and genuine completions are not always timed to the practitioner's schedule. But the completion spread identifies what has reached its natural end and is asking for the conscious act of completion — the acknowledgment, the closing ritual, the releasing of what has been genuinely finished.
Week 32: Legacy
The legacy spread asks the most long-view question of the harvesting season: what will remain from this year beyond this year? Not the projects that will carry forward into next year's Quarter 1, but the permanent changes — the capacities developed, the understanding earned, the relationships deepened, the inner shifts that have become permanent features of the landscape of the self — that are the year's genuine legacy regardless of whether the external projects achieved their stated goals.
Week 34: Letting Go
The letting go spread is one of the most challenging and most necessary in the entire year-long practice. As the harvest comes in and the season turns toward completion, the specific things that are ready to be released — relationships that have run their course, projects that have not grown into what they were intended to become, beliefs that the year's experience has genuinely outgrown, identities that no longer fit the person who has grown through three quarters of genuine practice — need to be consciously acknowledged and released. The harvest cannot be fully received while the hands are still holding last season's fruit.
Week 36: Self-Compassion
The self-compassion spread appears in the third quarter because the honest assessment of the harvest — seeing both what grew and what did not, what was completed and what was not, what was genuinely good and what fell short of intention — regularly produces the judgment and self-criticism that the self-compassion spread directly addresses. The self-compassion spread does not minimize what fell short; it brings the honest, kind perspective of genuine care to the practitioner's relationship with their own imperfect, genuinely trying, genuinely growing self.
Week 39: Wisdom
The wisdom spread closes the third quarter with the most distilled question of the harvesting season: what is the specific wisdom — the understanding earned through the year's experience that could only have been learned by living through it — that this particular quarter of the year has produced? The wisdom spread is the harvest's essential product: what the practitioner now knows, from genuine experience, that they did not know at the beginning of the year.
