Timing
Craft your Raidho amulet on a Thursday (Thor's day, associated with journeys and the protection of travelers) or at the new moon (for beginning new journeys) or the full moon (for journeys already underway that need completion). Dawn is ideal — the beginning of the day mirrors the beginning of the journey.
Sacred Space Preparation
Set up your workspace with Raidho's energy: purposeful, directional, aligned. Place a gold or orange candle (the colors of the road, of sunrise, of forward movement). Have a small compass or map if you are crafting for physical travel, or a written statement of your intended path if crafting for a life journey. Step 1: Clarifying Your Journey
Before carving, clarify exactly what journey this amulet is for. Physical travel? A life transition? A spiritual path? A legal or justice matter? Write it down in one clear sentence: "This amulet is for [specific journey/path/transition]." Raidho responds to clarity of direction — a vague intention produces a vague journey.
Step 2: Carving the Rune
The Raidho rune (ᚱ) consists of a vertical stave with a diagonal leg extending to the lower right — like the letter R, suggesting forward movement and the turning of a wheel. Carve it with steady, rhythmic strokes — Raidho responds to rhythm. As you carve, chant the Raidho Galdr: "Raidho, Raidho, Raidho" — let the sound be steady and rhythmic, like hoofbeats, like the turning of a wheel, like the measured pace of a purposeful journey.
Step 3: Coloring the Rune
Color Raidho with gold or orange (for the road ahead, for forward movement and solar energy) or red (for the life force that sustains the journey). Step 4: Activation
Hold the amulet and physically move with it — walk in a circle, or simply rock gently back and forth. Raidho is activated by movement, not by stillness. Step 5: Sealing
Place the amulet on a map of your destination (for physical travel) or on your written statement of intention (for a life journey). Leave it there overnight. In the morning, the amulet has absorbed the energy of the destination and is ready to guide you there.

For travel: keep the Raidho amulet in your pocket, bag, or vehicle during the journey. Place it on the dashboard of your car, in the pocket of your travel bag, or wear it around your neck. It works best when it is moving with you.
