Runes Predicted My Future Accurately
Share
BY NICOLE LAU
I was skeptical of divination. Tarot felt too subjective. Astrology too general. I wanted something concrete, testable, falsifiable.
Then I tried runes. And they predicted my future with terrifying accuracy.
This is what happened when I tested Norse divination for six months.
The Experiment
I'm a data person. I don't believe things just because they sound mystical. So I designed an experiment:
- Cast runes weekly for 6 months
- Write down the reading before events unfolded
- Track accuracy: did the prediction match reality?
- Document everything in a journal
I expected maybe 50% accuracyβrandom chance. What I got was 87%.
Reading 1: The Job Offer (Week 2)
The question: "Should I take this job offer?"
Runes drawn: Thurisaz (chaos, disruption), Hagalaz (destruction), Nauthiz (constraint)
My interpretation: This job will bring chaos, destruction of current stability, and severe constraints. Hard no.
What I did: Turned down the offer (it was good money, so this was scary)
What happened: The company had mass layoffs 6 weeks later. Everyone hired in that round was let go. If I'd taken it, I'd have been unemployed with a gap in my resume.
Accuracy: 100%
Reading 2: The Relationship (Week 5)
The question: "What's the future of this relationship?"
Runes drawn: Gebo (partnership), Berkano (growth), Wunjo (joy)
My interpretation: This relationship will deepen into true partnership, mutual growth, and lasting joy.
What I did: Committed more fully, stopped hedging
What happened: We moved in together (Gebo), both grew tremendously through the relationship (Berkano), and it's been the healthiest, happiest partnership I've ever had (Wunjo).
Accuracy: 100%
Reading 3: The Business Decision (Week 9)
The question: "Should I start this business?"
Runes drawn: Fehu (wealth, abundance), Ansuz (communication, wisdom), Jera (harvest, patience)
My interpretation: Yes, but it will require clear communication, wisdom in execution, and patience before seeing results.
What I did: Started the business, focused on communication and branding, prepared for a long game
What happened: Slow start (Jera's patience), but by month 8, revenue was flowing (Fehu). The key was messaging and wisdom in positioning (Ansuz).
Accuracy: 100%
Reading 4: The Health Warning (Week 14)
The question: "What do I need to know about my health?"
Runes drawn: Isa (ice, stagnation), Perthro (hidden things revealed), Eihwaz (endurance through difficulty)
My interpretation: Something is stagnant/frozen in my body. Hidden health issue will be revealed. I'll need endurance to get through it.
What I did: Got a full health screening (which I'd been putting off)
What happened: They found a thyroid issue (Isaβmetabolism frozen/slowed). It had been hidden for years (Perthro). Treatment took 6 months of adjustment (Eihwazβendurance).
Accuracy: 100%. This reading may have saved my health.
Why Runes Work (My Theory)
After 6 months of testing, here's what I think is happening:
1. Runes access pattern recognition
Your subconscious sees patterns your conscious mind misses. Runes give your intuition a language to communicate.
2. Symbolic compression
Each rune is a compressed symbol containing multiple layers of meaning. Your psyche recognizes which layer applies.
3. Quantum observation
Maybe (and this is speculative) the act of divination collapses probability waves. You're not predicting a fixed futureβyou're observing the most likely trajectory.
4. Synchronicity
Jung's concept: meaningful coincidence. The runes you draw match the archetypal pattern you're living.
How I Cast Runes
My method:
- Clear my mind: 5 minutes of meditation first
- Ask a specific question: Not "What will happen?" but "What do I need to know about X?"
- Draw 3 runes: Past/Present/Future or Situation/Action/Outcome
- Interpret intuitively first: What's my gut reaction?
- Then study meanings: Cross-reference with my rune journal
- Write it down: Date, question, runes, interpretation, prediction
- Follow up: Track what actually happens
The Accuracy Breakdown
After 6 months (26 readings):
- Completely accurate: 18 readings (69%)
- Mostly accurate: 5 readings (19%)
- Partially accurate: 2 readings (8%)
- Inaccurate: 1 reading (4%)
Total accuracy rate: 87% (combining complete + mostly accurate)
This is statistically significant. Way beyond chance.
When Runes Were Wrong
The one completely inaccurate reading? I asked about a friendship. Runes suggested growth and deepening. Instead, the friendship ended.
What I learned: I was asking the wrong question. I wanted to know if the friendship would last. The runes answered what I neededβwhich was growth through the ending. The friendship ending was the growth.
So even the "wrong" reading was right. I just misunderstood the question.
How to Start With Runes
- Get a rune set: Wood, stone, or make your own
- Learn the 24 Elder Futhark runes: One per day, study deeply
- Start simple: One-rune daily draws ("What do I need to know today?")
- Track everything: Journal your readings and outcomes
- Test it: Treat it like an experiment, not a belief system
- Trust your intuition: Book meanings are guides, not rules
Tools That Deepened My Practice
- Elder Futhark Runes Journal - For tracking readings and accuracy
- Elder Futhark Tapestry - Visual reference for all 24 runes
- Norse Rune Magic Candle - Ritual anchor for rune casting
What I Learned
Runes aren't fortune-telling. They're pattern recognition made visible.
They don't predict a fixed future. They show you the trajectory you're onβand give you the information to change course if needed.
That job I turned down? The runes didn't "predict" the layoffs. They showed me the energy pattern (chaos, destruction, constraint) and I made a different choice.
That's the real power of divination: not seeing the future, but seeing clearly enough to create a better one.
Six months later, I still cast runes weekly. Not because I need them to make decisions, but because they help me see what I'm too close to see clearly.
And 87% of the time, they're right.

For me, this whole journey has become deeply entwined with how I approach clarity and intentionβthe runes taught me to trust the symbols my subconscious speaks, and that same trust has opened the door to other practices that feel just as grounded. I keep a copy of the 30-Day Tarot Practice Workbook nearby now, not because tarot replaces runes, but because its daily framework mirrors that same experimental mindset I fell in love with. And when I want to layer in deeper archetypal understandingβconnecting the runic patterns to the broader currents of the psycheβI return again and again to Jung and the Archetype, which ties tarot and astrology to the very bridge of the unconscious. Finally, for those moments when the readings stir something that needs gentle release rather than more analysis, the Emotional Filter Ritual Kit has become a quiet anchorβa way to clear the residue so I can see the next pattern clearly.
