Saturn's Seven Seals: A Map from Binding to Earthquake

The Key of Solomon's seven Saturn pentacles constitute one of the most complete and most powerful planetary series in the grimoire tradition. Together they cover the full range of Saturnine power — from the establishment of authority over Saturn's spirits to the invocation of seismic force sufficient to shake the entire universe. Understanding the complete map of the seven seals reveals the logic of the Saturn series and the place of the Seventh Pentacle within it.

The Complete Map: Seven Seals, Seven Functions

First Pentacle — Authority and Access: Controls and summons Saturn's spirits. Establishes the practitioner's authority within the Saturnine hierarchy. The key that opens the Saturn sphere and makes all other Saturn work most effective. The foundation of the entire series.

Second Pentacle — Compulsion and Obedience: Compels obedience and submission from those who resist the practitioner's will. Targeted Saturnine compulsion directed at specific persons or situations. The seal of forced compliance.

Third Pentacle — Destruction of Opposition: Destroys enemies and overcomes opposition through the direct application of Saturnine destructive force. Targeted removal of specific obstacles. The seal of enemy destruction.

Fourth Pentacle — Protection: Protects the practitioner against evil spirits, harmful forces, and spiritual attack. Defensive Saturnine power. The seal of spiritual protection.

Fifth Pentacle — Command of the Dead: Commands the spirits of the deceased and facilitates communication with the dead. Saturnine power in the domain of death and the afterlife. The seal of necromantic authority.

Sixth Pentacle — Vision and Prophecy: Grants visions, prophetic sight, and the ability to see what is hidden. Saturnine power in the domain of time, fate, and hidden knowledge. The seal of prophetic vision.

Seventh Pentacle — Seismic Force: Excites earthquakes. Shakes the foundations of entrenched structures. Compels radical, irreversible transformation through overwhelming disruption. The seal of maximum Saturnine force — the final word in the Saturn series.

The Logic of the Progression

The seven seals progress from foundational authority (First) through increasingly specific and powerful operations (Second through Sixth) to the absolute maximum of Saturnine force (Seventh). This progression reflects the tradition's understanding that the Saturn series should be approached systematically — beginning with the establishment of authority, proceeding through targeted operations, and reserving the maximum force of the Seventh Pentacle for the situations that genuinely require it.

The practitioner who works through the Saturn series in this order develops a deepening relationship with the Saturnine hierarchy and an increasing capacity to work with Saturn's power effectively and safely — arriving at the Seventh Pentacle with the experience, the established authority, and the clarity of intention that working with maximum Saturnine force requires.
