The Upright and Reversal Dialogue Spread (6 Cards)
This spread is one of the most powerful tools for developing reversal fluency — it places the upright and reversed aspects of a card in direct dialogue with each other, revealing the full spectrum of the card's energy. Cards 1–3: The upright voice — what the card says when it is flowing freely, expressing its highest potential, operating in the light. Cards 4–6: The reversal voice — what the card says when it is blocked, internalized, in shadow, or in excess. Read the two sets of three cards as a conversation between the card's two aspects, and notice what the dialogue reveals about the situation.
The Reversal as Teacher Spread (4 Cards)
This spread reframes every reversed card as a teacher — as a presence that has appeared specifically to offer a lesson, a challenge, or a gift that the upright version of the card could not provide. Card 1: The reversed card as teacher — what lesson it is offering. Card 2: Why this lesson is needed now — what in the current situation has called this teacher forward. Card 3: What the lesson requires of me — what I must do, release, or become to receive it. Card 4: What I will carry forward when the lesson is complete — the lasting gift of this reversal.
