The Anatomy of the Aura: What is the Etheric Body?

When we look at the human body, we see skin, muscle, and bone. We assume that the physical body is the foundation of our existence, and that "energy" is something invisible that floats around inside or outside of it. In esoteric anatomy, this perspective is exactly backward. The physical body is not the foundation. The physical body is a manifestation of an underlying energetic blueprint.
That blueprint is the Etheric Body, the very first layer of the human energy field.
The Architecture of the First Layer
The Etheric Body exists immediately outside the physical body, radiating only 1 to 2 inches beyond the skin. Unlike the fluid, constantly shifting colors of the Astral Body, or the bright, conceptual geometry of the Mental Body, the Etheric Body is highly structured.
Clairvoyants describe it as a web or a matrix of glowing, pale blue-gray lines of force. It looks like a three-dimensional, energetic hologram of the physical body. Every organ, every vein, and every cell in your physical body has a corresponding energetic counterpart in the Etheric web.
The physical body does not create the Etheric Body. The Etheric Body exists first. The physical molecules of your flesh and bone are simply drawn into the geometric pattern provided by the Etheric web, like iron filings being organized by a magnetic field.
The Conductor of Life Force
The primary function of the Etheric Body is to act as the conductor for vital life force — known in various traditions as Prana, Chi, or Orgone energy.
The physical body cannot absorb this universal life force directly. The energy must first be pulled into the chakras, broken down, and distributed through the glowing blue-gray lines (the nadis or meridians) of the Etheric Body. From there, it is fed directly into the physical nervous system and endocrine glands.
If your Etheric Body is strong and its lines of force are clear, you experience vibrant physical health, high stamina, and a deep sense of grounding. You feel physically "dense" and present in the world.
The True Origin of Illness
Because the Etheric Body is the blueprint for the physical body, illness does not start in the physical tissue. Illness begins as a distortion, a block, or a tear in the Etheric web.
If a block in the Etheric Body is not cleared, the physical body (which relies on the Etheric blueprint for its structural integrity) will eventually conform to the distorted pattern. The energetic block becomes a physical symptom. By the time a disease manifests in the physical tissue, it has already been present in the Etheric Body for weeks, months, or years.
