The Second Pentacle of Jupiter: The Most Comprehensive Jovian Seal
Share
The seven pentacles of Jupiter in the Key of Solomon each address a specific dimension of Jovian power. The Seventh breaks poverty. The Fourth accumulates wealth. The Fifth opens visionary perception. The Sixth provides comprehensive protection. The Third commands spirits. The First establishes authority. The Second does something different from all of them: it draws the full current of Jupiter's abundant energy toward the practitioner across every dimension simultaneously — glory, honors, dignities, riches, all kinds of good, and great tranquility of mind.
This breadth is the Second Pentacle's defining characteristic and its greatest strength. It is the most comprehensive instrument of Jovian success in the entire series — the seal for those who seek not a single targeted outcome but a sustained, broad elevation of their circumstances across all the domains that Jupiter governs.
The Seal's Purpose: Everything Jupiter Offers
The Key of Solomon's description of the Second Pentacle is unusually expansive. Where most pentacles are described with a single focused purpose, the Second Pentacle's purpose encompasses multiple distinct blessings:
Glory: The quality of being genuinely distinguished — of standing out in your field, your community, your world as someone of genuine excellence and achievement.
Honors: The formal and informal recognition that accompanies genuine achievement — titles, awards, acknowledgments, and the respect of those whose respect matters.
Dignities: The social standing and personal dignity that come with genuine prosperity and achievement — the quality of being treated with the respect that your accomplishments merit.
Riches: Material abundance — the financial prosperity that is one of Jupiter's most well-known gifts.
All kinds of good: The most expansive phrase in the description — a deliberate catch-all that encompasses every form of Jovian blessing that the other categories do not explicitly name.
Great tranquility of mind: The inner dimension of Jovian abundance — the peace, equanimity, and contentment that come from genuine alignment with divine order and the satisfaction of living a genuinely prosperous life.
The Hidden Function: Discovering Treasures
The Second Pentacle also serves to discover treasures and to drive away the spirits that guard them. This function is less commonly discussed but practically significant: it extends the seal's reach beyond the practitioner's immediate circumstances to include hidden resources — material, financial, and otherwise — that are not yet accessible but can be uncovered through the seal's operation.
In a contemporary context, "hidden treasures" encompasses not only literal buried wealth but any resources, opportunities, or assets that are present but not yet visible or accessible: investment opportunities that have not yet appeared, professional connections that have not yet been made, creative resources that have not yet been tapped.
Who the Second Pentacle Is For
The Second Pentacle is for practitioners who want Jupiter's full current rather than a single targeted outcome. It is most appropriate for:
- Those who are seeking elevation across multiple domains simultaneously — career, finances, social standing, and inner peace all at once
- Those who are not sure exactly what they need and want to open themselves to the full range of what Jupiter offers
- Those who want a general Jovian blessing as a foundation for all other work
- Those who seek not only material prosperity but the inner tranquility that makes prosperity genuinely satisfying
- Those in periods of broad ambition and expansion who want Jupiter's full support across every dimension of their growth
