The Sixth Pentacle's Place in the Sun Series: The Hidden Instrument
Share
The Sun series in the Key of Solomon maps the full range of solar force — from prosperity and healing to favor, protection, and the most paradoxical of all solar gifts: invisibility. Within this range, the Sixth Pentacle occupies a unique position: it is the hidden instrument of the Sun series, the seal whose function is the most counterintuitive expression of solar force and whose place in the series reveals the depth of the Solomonic tradition's understanding of the Sun's governing power over perception.
The Sun Series: Solar Force Across Its Full Range
First — Prosperity and Abundance: Draws financial opportunity, material abundance, and the favor of those in positions of power. The most widely used solar instrument.
Second — Protection and Favor: Protects the practitioner and draws the favor of those who encounter them. Solar radiance directed toward attraction and protection simultaneously.
Third — Courage and Confidence: Invokes the Sun's quality of solar courage — the force that enables the practitioner to act with confidence and authority in situations that would otherwise produce hesitation or fear.
Fourth — Healing and Vitality: Draws on the Sun's life-giving force to support healing, vitality, and the restoration of physical and energetic health.
Fifth — Invincibility and Strength: Invokes the Sun's quality of supreme solar strength — the force that makes the practitioner invincible to the attacks of adversaries.
Sixth — Invisibility and Concealment: The hidden instrument. Uses the Sun's governing force over perception to render the wearer imperceptible — the most paradoxical and most counterintuitive expression of solar force in the series.
Seventh — Supreme Solar Authority: The culminating instrument of the Sun series, invoking the full authority of solar force in its most complete expression.
Why the Sixth Is the Hidden Instrument
The Sixth Pentacle is the hidden instrument of the Sun series for two reasons. First, its function — invisibility — is the most hidden of all solar functions, the one that is least expected from the planet of radiant visibility. Second, its operation is itself hidden: the Sixth Pentacle works by making things invisible, and its own function is most effective when it is not widely known or widely discussed. The hidden instrument of the Sun series is hidden in its nature, hidden in its function, and most powerful when its presence is not announced.
The Sixth Pentacle's Unique Value in the Series
The Sixth Pentacle provides something that no other instrument in the Sun series provides: the ability to withdraw from visibility entirely. Every other solar instrument amplifies, attracts, or projects solar force outward; the Sixth Pentacle is the only instrument in the series that directs solar force inward — using it to create the protected, concealed space within which the practitioner can work, move, and act without the interference of unwanted attention.
