Throughout this series, we've used Φ (Phi, the golden ratio) as a symbol. Now we reveal its true meaning: Φ is not just a number. Φ is the universal constant—the pattern of patterns, the law of laws, the structure of existence itself.

What is Φ (Phi)?

The Mathematical Definition

Φ = 1.618033988749... (irrational, infinite decimal)

The golden ratio is defined by the equation:

Φ = (1 + √5) / 2

Or by the property:

Φ / 1 = 1 / (Φ - 1)

This means: The ratio of the whole to the larger part equals the ratio of the larger part to the smaller part.
