Three of Wands Journal Prompts: 15 Questions for Visionary Expansion

BY NICOLE LAU

Journaling with the Three of Wands

The Three of Wands is the visionary's cardβ€”it asks you to stand on the cliff of your accomplishments and gaze toward the horizon of your potential. These journal prompts help you cultivate foresight, trust your expansion, and prepare to receive the success that's sailing toward you. This is not passive dreamingβ€”this is active visioning and confident anticipation.

How to Use These Prompts

Visionary Journaling Practice

  1. Create Your Horizon Space: Find a place with a long viewβ€”window, rooftop, park bench overlooking landscape. Light three candles representing your ventures in motion.
  2. Ground in Confidence: Take three deep breaths, place hand on heart, feel the confidence of knowing your ships are sailing
  3. Pull the Card: Hold the Three of Wands or visualize it clearlyβ€”see yourself standing on the cliff, watching success approach
  4. Choose Your Prompt: Read through and select the one that makes you feel both excited and slightly impatient (that's the growth edge)
  5. Write with Foresight: Set a timer for 20-30 minutes. Write as if you can see the futureβ€”because you can
  6. Identify What's Coming: After journaling, extract 3 opportunities you sense are on the horizon
  7. Prepare to Receive: For each opportunity, write one way you'll prepare for its arrival

Timing Your Practice

For maximum visionary clarity, journal with these prompts during:

  • Sunrise: Aligning with new opportunities arriving
  • Waxing Moon to Full Moon: Growth and manifestation phase
  • Aries Season (March 21-April 19): Bold expansion and confident vision
  • After Launching Something: When you're in the waiting/anticipation phase
  • When you pull Three of Wands in a reading: The universe is asking you to look ahead

The 15 Prompts

1. What opportunities are sailing toward me that I can't yet see?

Purpose: Develop your foresight and trust in what's coming

Dig Deeper:

  • Close your eyes and visualize ships on the horizonβ€”what are they carrying?
  • What opportunities would make sense given what I've already set in motion?
  • What do I sense is coming even though I have no logical proof?
  • If I trusted my intuition completely, what would it tell me about my near future?

Integration: Write down your intuitive hits. When opportunities arrive, check backβ€”you'll be amazed at your accuracy.

2. What have I already accomplished that I'm not fully celebrating?

Purpose: Acknowledge the foundation you're standing on

Dig Deeper:

  • What did I launch, create, or initiate in the past 6-12 months?
  • What risks did I take that are now paying off?
  • What would past-me be proud of present-me for?
  • What foundation have I built that's now supporting my expansion?

Integration: Celebrate your wins. You're standing on a cliff you climbed. Honor that before looking ahead.

3. Where is my work/influence expanding beyond my immediate circle?

Purpose: Recognize the ripple effect of your efforts

Dig Deeper:

  • Who is being reached by my work that I didn't expect?
  • What geographic areas or demographics am I now touching?
  • How has my influence grown in the past year?
  • What evidence do I have that my reach is expanding?
  • Where could my work expand next if I let it?

Integration: Track your expansion metrics. Notice the organic growth. Trust that it will continue.

4. What am I waiting for, and can I trust the timeline?

Purpose: Distinguish between patient anticipation and anxious worry

Dig Deeper:

  • What results am I waiting for right now?
  • Am I waiting with confidence or with anxiety?
  • What evidence do I have that my ships are sailing (even if I can't see them)?
  • What would change if I fully trusted that success is on its way?
  • How can I prepare for success while I wait?

Integration: Shift from anxious waiting to confident preparation. Use the waiting time productively.

5. If I could see one year into the future, what would I see?

Purpose: Access your visionary capacity

Dig Deeper:

  • Describe a day in my life one year from now in vivid detail
  • What have I built? Where am I located? Who am I working with?
  • What opportunities arrived that I'm now grateful for?
  • How did I get from here to there? What were the key milestones?
  • What did I have to become to create this future?

Integration: Work backward from your vision. What needs to happen in 9 months? 6 months? 3 months? This month?

6. What international or long-distance opportunity am I being called toward?

Purpose: Identify expansion beyond your current location

Dig Deeper:

  • What countries or cities keep appearing in my awareness?
  • Who have I connected with from other locations?
  • What travel or relocation feels both exciting and scary?
  • How could my work reach global audiences?
  • What's stopping me from thinking internationally?

Integration: Research one international opportunity this week. Take one small step toward global expansion.

7. What ventures have I set in motion that are now working without my constant input?

Purpose: Recognize what's become self-sustaining

Dig Deeper:

  • What systems, products, or relationships now run on their own momentum?
  • What did I build that's now generating results passively?
  • Where have I successfully delegated or automated?
  • What evidence do I have that my work has its own life force now?

Integration: Celebrate what's working without you. This frees you to create the next thing.

8. Who are the collaborators or partners sailing toward me?

Purpose: Identify strategic alliances on the horizon

Dig Deeper:

  • What kind of partner would 10x my expansion?
  • Who has complementary skills, audience, or resources?
  • What collaborations do I sense are coming?
  • How can I prepare to be a great partner when they arrive?
  • What would I bring to a strategic partnership?

Integration: Create a "dream collaborator" profile. When they appear, you'll recognize them.

9. What am I ready to receive that I wasn't ready for six months ago?

Purpose: Recognize your growth and expanded capacity

Dig Deeper:

  • What opportunities would have overwhelmed me before that I can now handle?
  • What skills, confidence, or resources have I developed?
  • How has my capacity expanded?
  • What success am I now prepared to receive?
  • What would I do differently now if the same opportunity returned?

Integration: Acknowledge your growth. You're not the same person who started this journey. You're ready for more.

10. Where am I playing too small when I should be thinking globally?

Purpose: Identify self-imposed limitations

Dig Deeper:

  • Am I limiting myself to local when I could go national or international?
  • Am I thinking in hundreds when I could think in thousands or millions?
  • What would change if I 10x'd my vision right now?
  • What am I afraid will happen if I think bigger?
  • Whose permission am I waiting for to expand?

Integration: Rewrite your vision at 10x scale. Notice what resistance comes up. Work through it.

11. What does my intuition tell me about the next 3 months?

Purpose: Trust your foresight and inner knowing

Dig Deeper:

  • What do I sense is coming in the next quarter?
  • What opportunities, challenges, or changes do I feel approaching?
  • What should I prepare for?
  • What does my body/gut tell me about what's ahead?
  • If I trusted my intuition completely, what would I do differently today?

Integration: Document your intuitive predictions. Check back in 3 months. Train your foresight muscle.

12. What legacy am I building with this expansion?

Purpose: Connect current growth to long-term impact

Dig Deeper:

  • What will this expansion create that outlives me?
  • Who will benefit from what I'm building 10 years from now?
  • What impact do I want my work to have on the world?
  • Am I building for quick wins or lasting legacy?
  • What would make this expansion meaningful beyond profit?

Integration: Ensure your expansion serves something bigger than yourself. Legacy thinking creates sustainable success.

13. What do I need to release to make space for what's coming?

Purpose: Clear space for new opportunities

Dig Deeper:

  • What commitments, relationships, or projects no longer serve my expansion?
  • What am I holding onto out of fear or obligation?
  • What would I release if I trusted that better things are coming?
  • What's taking up space that could be used for new opportunities?
  • What ending would create the most powerful new beginning?

Integration: Release one thing this week. Create space for what's sailing toward you.

14. How can I share my vision in a way that inspires others?

Purpose: Develop your leadership and communication

Dig Deeper:

  • What do I see that others don't yet see?
  • How can I articulate my vision compellingly?
  • Who needs to hear about what I'm building?
  • What story would inspire others to join or support my expansion?
  • Am I hiding my vision or sharing it boldly?

Integration: Practice articulating your vision. Share it with 3 people this week. Refine based on their response.

15. What is the first sign that my ships are arriving?

Purpose: Identify early indicators of manifestation

Dig Deeper:

  • What will be the first evidence that my expansion is manifesting?
  • What small signs should I watch for?
  • What synchronicities would indicate I'm on the right track?
  • How will I know when to prepare for the next wave of growth?
  • What would I do when I see the first signs?

Integration: Stay alert for these signs. When they appear, take immediate action to prepare for what's coming.

More Ways to Deepen Your Practice

If you've ever felt like your practice isn't going deep enough β€”
like your mind stays busy, your body never fully settles, or the space around you feels distracting β€”
it's often not about discipline.

It's about environment.

The right environment doesn't just support your practice β€” it becomes part of it.
When space, scent, sound, and intention align, the shift in awareness happens more naturally and more deeply.

Imagine this:
sacred symbols on the walls, soft fabric against your skin, a steady place to sit.
A match is struck. Smoke rises β€” bergamot, frankincense β€” something ancient and grounding.
Sound moves quietly in the background, and time begins to slow.

You don't force the state.
You arrive in it.

This is what a ritual feels like when every element is aligned.

If you want to make your practice feel like this, start simple:

You don't need everything.
Just one element can change the entire experience.

The tools that help create this space β€” and how to use them in your own practice:

Tapestries

Sacred symbols woven into fabric become silent guardians of the space β€” helping the mind cross the threshold from the ordinary into the sacred. Designed to anchor your ritual environment and hold energetic intention throughout your practice.

Yoga Mats

A dedicated surface signals to body and spirit alike: this is where the work begins. Everything else falls away. Built for comfort and stability, so your body can settle fully while your awareness expands.

Audio Meditations

Let sound do what the mind cannot do alone. In the stillness it creates, intuition finds its voice. Guided sessions crafted to deepen receptivity, clear mental noise, and prepare you for meaningful spiritual work.

Ritual Kits

When the tools are already gathered, the only thing left is intention. Light something. Begin. Thoughtfully assembled sets that bring together everything needed for a complete, intentional ceremony.

Personal Practice Journals

Every reading, every vision, every quiet knowing β€” written down before the ordinary world reclaims it. Structured to support reflection, pattern recognition, and the long-term deepening of your practice.

Apparel

What you wear into a ritual becomes part of it. Soft, intentional, yours. Designed for ease of movement and energetic comfort, from morning meditation to evening ceremony.

Aromatherapy Candles

A flame changes a room. Let the scent that rises with it mark the beginning of something set apart from the rest of the day. Formulated with sacred botanicals to cleanse energy, anchor intention, and deepen meditative states.

Books

Some knowledge can only be absorbed slowly, over many readings. Let the right book become a companion to your practice. Curated titles spanning mysticism, ritual, and esoteric wisdom β€” to take your understanding further.
