BY NICOLE LAU
Venus Retrograde is a rare and powerful astrological transit that occurs approximately every 18 months for about 40 days. When Venus—the planet of love, beauty, values, and pleasure—appears to move backward in the sky, it creates a profound period of review and reassessment in matters of the heart, relationships, self-worth, and what we value. The Venus Retrograde Tarot Spread is designed to help you navigate this introspective transit, understand what relationships or values need reconsideration, and use the retrograde energy for deep heart healing and clarity.
This guide teaches you to work WITH Venus Retrograde through tarot, embrace the relationship review, and emerge with greater clarity about love and worth.
Understanding Venus Retrograde Energy
Venus rules love, relationships, beauty, pleasure, values, money, and self-worth. When it retrogrades, these areas require deep review and often bring the past back for reconsideration.
Venus Retrograde Qualities:
• Relationship review and reassessment
• Past loves returning (exes, old flames)
• Self-worth examination
• Values clarification
• Beauty and pleasure re-evaluation

Shadow Period: Like Mercury, Venus Retrograde has a shadow period—the weeks before and after when the energy is building or releasing.
Best for: Reviewing relationships, healing past heartbreak, clarifying values, reconnecting with exes (for closure or reunion), self-worth work, NOT for: Starting new relationships, getting married, major beauty changes, large purchases
