Waning Gibbous Tarot Spread: Gratitude and Integration After the Full Moon
Share
The waning gibbous moon arrives in the days immediately following the full moon, when the peak energy has crested and the cycle has begun its return journey toward the dark. This is the phase of integration — the harvest that follows the peak, the period of absorbing what the full moon revealed and released, of bringing the insights and the gifts of the cycle's high point into lived, embodied, daily reality. In traditional agricultural cultures, the harvest was as important as the planting — the crop had to be gathered, stored, and made usable before it could nourish the community. The waning gibbous is the tarot practitioner's harvest: the time to gather the fruits of the cycle consciously, to express genuine gratitude for what has been given, and to begin the integration that will make the insights of the full moon truly available in daily life.
The waning gibbous typically appears 15–21 days after the new moon. The energy is spacious, grateful, reflective, and gentle. This is an excellent time for sharing wisdom gained, for practical application of insights received, for gratitude practices, and for the kind of deep, leisurely integration that the busy building phase did not allow.
Waning Gibbous Ritual Setup
Light a warm amber or honey-colored candle for gratitude, harvest, and the richness of what has been gathered. Place citrine, golden topaz, or amber nearby as stones of gratitude and abundance. Before the reading, take a few minutes to genuinely feel gratitude for what the cycle has brought — not as a spiritual performance, but as a real, felt, body-present acknowledgment of what has been received. The waning gibbous ritual has a quality of feast and rest after harvest; it should feel spacious rather than effortful.
The Waning Gibbous Gratitude & Integration Tarot Spread
A five-card spread for harvesting and integrating the gifts of the full moon.
Card 1 — The Harvest of This Cycle: What has genuinely been produced, gained, realized, or received in this lunar cycle that constitutes the real harvest? What is the fruit that can now be gathered and used?
Card 2 — The Insight That Needs to Be Integrated: What specific insight, revelation, or understanding from the full moon phase needs to be more fully brought into daily life, embodied more completely, or acted upon more concretely? What wisdom is waiting to be lived rather than merely known?
Card 3 — What I Am Most Genuinely Grateful For: Not the gratitude list — the specific, personal, deeply felt acknowledgment of what in this cycle has been most genuinely precious, most unexpectedly valuable, or most deeply nourishing. What is the gratitude that goes all the way down?
Card 4 — How to Share or Use What Has Been Received: The harvest is not only personal; it is meant to be shared and used. How can what has been received in this cycle be shared with others, applied to the practitioner's work or relationships, or used in service of something beyond the practitioner's own growth?
Card 5 — The Preparation for the Coming Release: As the moon continues to wane toward the dark, what is being prepared for the deeper releasing and resting of the last quarter and waning crescent phases? What is the next layer that the return journey will invite?
