Why Do I Doubt My Intuition?

The Voice You Don't Trust
You receive intuitive hitsβfeelings, knowings, visionsβbut then immediately doubt them. You second-guess, rationalize away, or ignore what your intuition tells you. This doubt isn't about your intuition being wrongβit's about not trusting yourself.
Why You Doubt Your Intuition
Conditioning to Trust Logic Over Feeling: Society teaches you to trust logic, proof, and external authority over your inner knowing. You've been trained to doubt yourself.
Past Experiences of Being Wrong: You followed your intuition before and it seemed wrong, so now you don't trust it. (Often, you were actually right but didn't have full context yet.)
Fear of Being Foolish: You fear looking stupid or making mistakes if you trust your intuition and it's "wrong."
Gaslighting History: If you've been gaslitβtold your perceptions, feelings, or knowings were wrongβyou learned to doubt your inner voice.
Lack of Practice: Intuition is like a muscle. If you haven't exercised it or learned to distinguish true intuition from fear/ego, you don't trust it yet.
Fear of What It Reveals: Sometimes your intuition shows you uncomfortable truths. Doubting it protects you from having to act on what you know.
Intuition vs. Fear vs. Ego
Intuition: Calm, clear, neutral. Comes as a knowing, not a panic. Feels like truth in your body.
Fear: Loud, urgent, catastrophic. Creates anxiety and worst-case scenarios. Feels contracted in your body.
Ego: Judgmental, comparative, attached to outcomes. Wants to be right or look good. Feels inflated or defensive.
Building Trust in Your Intuition
Start Small: Practice with low-stakes decisions. Which route to take, what to eat, who to call. Notice when you're right.
Track Your Hits: Keep a journal of intuitive hits and what actually happened. You'll see you're right more than you think.
Feel Into Your Body: Intuition speaks through your body. Learn your body's yes (expansion, warmth, ease) and no (contraction, tension, resistance).
Distinguish the Voices: Practice identifying which voice is speakingβintuition, fear, or ego. The more you practice, the clearer it becomes.
Act on Small Nudges: When you get an intuitive hit, act on it. Build evidence that your intuition is trustworthy.
Release Attachment to Being Right: Intuition isn't about being rightβit's about being guided. Trust the guidance even when you don't understand it yet.
The Truth
Your intuition is always speaking. The question isn't whether it's accurateβit's whether you're willing to trust yourself. The more you honor your inner knowing, the stronger and clearer it becomes. You know more than you think you know. Trust yourself.
