The Worm Moon: March's Full Moon
The Worm Moon is March's full moon, named for the earthworms that emerge as the ground begins to thaw after winter's freeze. Rising during the transition from winter to spring, this moon carries the energy of awakening, renewal, growth, and rebirth. The Worm Moon appears when the earth stirs from dormancy, when the first signs of spring emerge, and when life returns after winter's rest. It's a moon of emergence, transformation, and the promise of new beginnings.
This full moon illuminates a world in transition—snow melting, ground softening, earthworms surfacing, early flowers pushing through soil, and trees beginning to bud. March is the threshold month, standing between winter's end and spring's beginning. The Worm Moon invites us to emerge from our own winter rest, to awaken to new possibilities, to grow toward the light, and to trust in renewal. Like earthworms that aerate and nourish the soil, this moon prepares the ground for growth.
