The Key of Solomon contains five pentacles of Venus, each addressing a different dimension of Venusian power. The First draws favor and grace. The Second compels love and desire. The Border Verse: Genesis 2:23–24
The border of the Fourth Pentacle carries one of the most powerful verses in the Hebrew Bible on the subject of human connection: Genesis 2:23–24, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh… and they shall be one flesh." This is the verse of the original human union — the moment when Adam recognizes Eve as the one who is bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh, and the declaration that a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
The verse's imagery is of irresistible recognition and irresistible union. The Fourth Pentacle invokes this imagery in its most forceful application: the recognition that compels approach, the union that cannot be resisted, the cleaving that overrides every other consideration.
