The Second Pentacle of Saturn is designed to be worn — carried on the body as a continuous shield during the periods of conflict, opposition, and adversarial pressure for which it was designed. Unlike some grimoire seals that are used only during specific ritual operations, the Second Pentacle's protective and suppressive functions are most effective when the seal is worn continuously throughout the period of opposition, maintaining its defensive presence against the adversarial forces the practitioner is facing.
Continuous Wear: The Shield That Never Sleeps
The Second Pentacle's protection is most effective when it is continuously present — when the practitioner carries the shield throughout the day and night of the adversarial period, not only during specific ritual moments. This continuous wear reflects the nature of the opposition the Second Pentacle is designed to address: sustained adversarial pressure does not pause between ritual sessions, and the shield that protects against it should not either.
The bracelet form makes continuous wear practical and comfortable. The 18+5cm adjustable length fits a wide range of wrist sizes, and the lightweight construction allows for comfortable wear throughout the day without the weight or bulk that would make continuous wear impractical.
The Wrist: The Shield at the Body's Active Point
The bracelet places the Second Pentacle at the wrist — the body's point of action and engagement. For a seal whose function is the active suppression of adversarial forces and the maintenance of the practitioner's defensive position, the wrist placement is precisely right: the shield is present and active at the body's most active point, carried into every interaction, every confrontation, and every moment of the adversarial period.
The wrist placement also makes the Second Pentacle immediately accessible during moments of heightened adversarial pressure — the practitioner can touch it, hold it, or simply be aware of its presence at any moment, reconnecting with its protective function when the opposition intensifies.
Maintaining the Shield During Conflict
To maintain the Second Pentacle's protective function during an active period of conflict:
- Wear it continuously throughout the adversarial period — day and night if possible, or at minimum during all waking hours when the adversarial pressure is active.
- Recharge it weekly during the Saturn hour on Saturday, repeating the naming of the adversary and the invocation of the SATOR Square's impermeability.
- Touch it deliberately before entering any direct confrontation with the adversary — a meeting, a legal proceeding, a difficult conversation — reconnecting with its protective function at the moment it is most needed.
- Keep it on until the adversarial period is fully resolved and the opposition has been suppressed or withdrawn.
After the Conflict Is Resolved
When the adversarial period is resolved and the opposition has been suppressed, cleanse the Second Pentacle before storing it — passing it through incense smoke (myrrh or cypress) and stating: "The conflict is resolved. The shield has held. The Second Pentacle is cleansed and ready for the next working." Store it respectfully until the next period of adversarial opposition requires its protection.
