Raksha Bandhan Astrology: Leo Full Moon and Protection Energy

BY NICOLE LAU
Raksha Bandhan's timing on the full moon of Shravana creates powerful astrological alignment, typically falling when the sun is in Leo. This cosmic configuration amplifies the festival's themes of loyalty, courage, protective love, and sacred bonds.
The Leo Full Moon Energy
Leo governs loyalty, courage, generosity, and protective instincts—the lion defending its pride. When the full moon illuminates Leo, these qualities reach peak expression. The festival harnesses this energy for creating and strengthening protective bonds.
Sun in Leo, Moon in Aquarius
The full moon creates an opposition between Leo (individual loyalty, personal bonds) and Aquarius (collective responsibility, universal brotherhood). Raksha Bandhan bridges this: personal sibling bonds that model universal protection and care.
Shravana Month Significance
In Vedic astrology, Shravana nakshatra (lunar mansion) is ruled by the Moon and associated with listening, learning, and connection. The month amplifies receptivity to sacred bonds and protective energies.
Working with the Energy
The Leo full moon is ideal for protection magic, loyalty spells, and bond-strengthening rituals. The lunar energy makes intentions more powerful, especially those involving family, protection, and sacred duty.
Personal Astrology
Those with Leo placements feel Raksha Bandhan's energy strongly—it's their natural domain of loyalty and protection. Aquarius placements are called to balance universal ideals with personal bonds. Moon-ruled individuals (Cancer) connect deeply with the festival's emotional and protective themes.
